Product & Description
This is the £9.99 Peco Coleford Red Ash' N gauge 7 plank wagon, produced exclusively for us here at Derails Models. This item is a limited edition of 100 pieces, and is the sixth issue in our range of exclusive local wagons.
This wagon was manufactured by Peco in the United Kingdom.
The Coleford Red Ash Colliery was opened in early 1900's and was situated near to Speech House Road. The company itself was wound up in 1912 but coal was mined from the gales until the early 20's with some of the workings being preserved as the Hopewell Colliery Museum which is still open today. Wagon no. 4 was built in August 1905 as part of a second order. Coleford Red Ash only ever owned 6 railway wagons, all built by the Gloucester works.
The research and development of this wagon was aided considerably by the book "Private Owner Wagons of the Forest of Dean", written by Ian Pope and published by Lightmoor press. The book, although out of publication, can still be obtained using the ISBN number 1 899889 09 4 from a variety of sources, including the Dean Forest Railway.
