It all started way back in 2010 when our local model shop closed. In the Forest of Dean area, there were many thriving model railway clubs, now with nowhere to go to get their model railway products. We saw the gap in the market and went for it.
Our aim, is to bring cheap products to the many modellers in the Forest of Dean, as well as getting customer satisfaction.
We stock Hornby, Peco, Roundhouse Metcalfe, Modelscene, Ratio, Wills and more and hope to stock other leading brands in the future. In early 2013, we became dealers for the G scale live steam locomotive manufacturer Roundhouse, and are now selling their brilliant British made products. In early 2014 we began retailing Javis, who products should be appearing here very soon!
This, our brand new website, began being built in early 2015, with an eventual aim of taking over from our old one.
We, as modellers ourselves, always hope and want quick delivery, and here at derails that is one of our highest aims. If we haven't got what you want in stock, contact us and we are always happy to order it. We hope to get it to you within a week.
Timeline of our company
Mid 2010: We start selling Hornby and Corgi items through eBay as an approved Hornby Hobbies Dealer. This takes off dramatically!
December 2010: Our website is launched, and we take on Peco, who are distrubutiors for Metcalfe, Ratio, Wills, Harburn Hamlet and more. Alongside this, our shop is launched. A concession inside another shop, this now serves the Forest Modellers.
February 2013: After nothing new for three years we begin retailing Roundhouse. These are specialist live steam Garden Railway locomotives all designed and built in Doncaster.
February 2014: We take on Javis Manufacturing.
August 2014: We start stocking leading model railway manufacturer Dapol. Also, plans for a new shop are submitted in Coleford and a new model railway forum is started.
January 2015: This brand spanking new website is started in parrell with our old one. Hosted here at derails.co, this site is being prepared before going live, at which time the old one will be wound down, 'decomissioned' and eventually removed.
The future: Who knows!
